Our Philosophy:
"To offer a superior educational opportunity to the children and families of our community and adhere to the proven methods developed by Dr. Maria Montessori."
At Covered Bridge Academy, your child will have the opportunity to investigate and explore their world. These objectives are accomplished harmoniously in an environment where children of all ages thrive! Just as Dr. Montessori discovered so many years ago, a child who is engaged and interested is happy, healthy, well-behaved and socially well-rounded.
Our mixed-age classrooms allow for younger children to learn from the older ones through peer teaching increasing independence. They are naturally motivated to progress to higher levels of learning. the children, while continuing academically at their own pace, also master skills of leadership and problem solving. Regardless of age, children are encouraged to explore their interests and abilities.
Learning styles are carefully considered as personality, habits, abilities, interests and concentration differ from child to child. A child is never rushed into a new lesson without having demonstrated readiness for that new challenge. Neither will they be held back, even though their peers may be pursuing a different path. Our staff is totally devoted to ensuring that every child's experience is appropriate for his orher own needs.
Our History:
Our journey in education in Cobb county began in 1981 with Covered Bridge Montessori School. We started with a single pre-school classroom and two teachers. We opened our doors and our hearts and added more classrooms to accommodate more children from ages 2-9. We set our sights and succeeded in offering a truly unique educational experience to the families of our community.
Gaining recognition within the community, parents began introducing their family and friends to our school. Parents were happy; their children were happy, and everyone was learning! Our Montessori family of schools grew with the addition of Country Brook Montessori in Norcross, GA.
As the Elementary classrooms grew at the Covered Bridge Montessori campus, CBA became the dream of the elementary students and staff alike. The students and staff helped in the planning process. Covered Bridge Academy opened the spring of 1999 and the elementary students moved to the Academy campus, allowing the Covered Bridge Montessori campus to add additional classrooms for toddlers and early childhood students.
